Guided Mahamudra Preliminaries Retreat

Guided Mahamudra Preliminaries Retreat
According to the Oral Instructions of Mahamudra

Gen Kelsang Rinzin

Taught by Gen Kelsang Rinzin

May 26 - 29

Learn how to purify negativity, accumulate huge positive mental energy (good karma), receive blessings, and progress on the path to enlightenment.

"If we really wish to attain permanent liberation from the sufferings of samsara and experience the ultimate bliss of enlightenment by depending upon the practice of Mahamudra, it is very important that we put great effort into the practice of the four great preliminary guides."
--Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra

In this retreat, we will practice each of the four great preliminary guides:

  • Going for refuge, the gateway to entering Buddhism, and generating bodhichitta, the gateway to entering the Mahayana
  • Purification practice, the gateway to purifying non-virtuous actions and obstructions
  • Mandala offering, the gateway to accumulating a collection of merit and attaining an enlightened pure land
  • Guru yoga, the gateway to receiving blessings

Three sessions will be devoted to each of the preliminary guides. In each set of three, most of the explanation will be given in session 1, so if you cannot come to every session, it is recommended to come to the first of each guide--Refuge 1, Purification 1, and Mandala Offering 1. Guru Yoga will be part of every session. Please see the schedule below.
